In ranking things that are inarguably hashtag awkward, we’re pretty sure unexpectedly running into your ex is one of the top ones on the list. Imagine all the cringe and awkwardness that comes with running into a past lover, or the lack thereof (?). After all, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to relationships, even ones already in the past.
In one episode of It’s Showtime, the hosts had a ~*conversation*~ about the oops! moment of running into their exes, with some sharing sensible thoughts about the matter. “Kung makasalubong niyo ex niyo, hindi ba kayo iiwas?” asked Vice Ganda.
To which, Karylle had a ~*lighthearted*~ response. “Yung iba nga sine-search ko pa e, parang kamusta kaya sila? Nakikibalita ako. Okay ba sila? Syempre gusto mo maging masaya sila, so di naman iwas. Siguro yung excited ka din dun sa time na makakausap mo na, ‘Uy, kamusta ka? I’m happy for you.’”
She added that while the ~*catching up with an ex*~ moment has yet to happen to her, it’s something that she's not worried about anymore. “Di pa. Pero yung isa actually ko na makausap, ‘Uy, kamusta ka na ba?’ Di pa e. Parang alam ko na kaya ko na siya kasi 'pag pinagu-usapan dati kasi nanginginig yung boses ko. So ngayon, parang okay.”
Although no names were mentioned, Karylle’s dating history included Dingdong Dantes, who is, as everyone knows, married to Marian Rivera now. ICYMI, Marian and Dingdong were invited to be guests on the noontime show in December 2023 to promote their blockbuster film Rewind, albeit missing running into Karylle because the latter got sick. Karylle would’ve probably kept it cool if she was there, though—given how she poked fun at the possibility of meeting the two weeks before the two's guesting.
