Wear It Proud: Sophisticated Fashionalism Outfits

Wear your Pinay pride literally on your sleeve...or your entire shirt or dress, for that matter. National Artist F. Sionil Jose inspired this new collection.

Fashionalism has become a beloved catch phrase in local fashion, prompting more Filipino fashion brands to demonstrate nationalism through their garments. One of your fave local fashion brands, Freeway, does that through their National Artist Collectors’ Series: a collection of chic pieces printed with artwork done by our local art heroes.

Last time, we featured dresses and shirts inspired by National Artist for Fashion Ramon Valera. This time, Freeway features the work of National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose in their elegant Fall 2011 Collection. If you have read and loved his famous literary works, you'll find it really cool that you can wear his priceless words, printed on modern woven tops, classic dresses, funky accessories, and even structured pencil skirts.

Mr. Jose himself graced the launch of the collection in Freeway Glorietta 5, where he was interviewed by that night’s host, prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde. Excerpts from his famous works such as The Pretenders, Ermita, Tree, and The God Stealer were also read by guests Lourd De Veyra and actress Cherie Gil.

Launch the gallery to see the beautiful pieces in the F. Sionil Jose collection.
