You Probably Won't See A Ton Of MET Gala Selfies Today

Because Anna Wintour says it’s not cool enough.

There’s probably a reason why you aren’t seeing selfies—or live updates—about the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Gala (MET) on your Instagram feed.

According to Page Six, Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour banned all celebrities from posting pictures on social media. “The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted throughout the event,” reported The Daily MailWhich is probably why Instagram-obsessed stars like Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne have just been posting Met Gala #TBT posts.

Nobody knows exactly why personal photos were banned from the gala, but people are speculating that it's because Anna hates selfies. In an interview with Vogue last year, Anna admitted, “I’ve never taken a selfie, and I don’t plan on doing it.” That, and the magazine is coming up with a documentary about the balland they want exclusive coverage.

The annual event which had a China: Through the Looking Glass theme wrapped up a couple of hours ago, so that's probably why you're only seeing Instagram snaps now.
