Don’t let an ugly pimple ruin your day! We have makeup techniques here that you can try, no matter how crazy and angry your zit looks.
But before anything else, you must always follow the CLAYGO (Clean As You Go) rule. Washed hands or a fresh makeup sponge should be used to apply the concealer. You would not want to spread bacteria to an already inflamed zit.
Without further ado, here are the clever spot-concealing techniques for every type of pimple:
Type of zit: Red and alive (aka the regular pimple)
Thick layers of makeup would only make your blemish look more obvious. What you can do is to cancel out the redness of the pimple with a green-colored corrector. Then, dab a light layer of a concealer that matches your skin tone. Set with translucent powder.
Type of zit: Red and ready to heal
Flaky zits which are about to heal will look worse if you top them off with makeup products right away. Put a tiny amount of oil-free moisturizer on the spot before applying makeup. Then, gently dab a light green corrector and a creamy concealer to hide it. Spritz with a setting spray instead of using powder.
Type of zit: A crazy, cystic pimple
Ice the bump first to soothe the inflammation. Apply a medicated gel (A derma-approved solution is Benzac) and let the zit absorb the active ingredients before makeup application.
To camouflage the spot, dab a concealer that is close to your skin tone or foundation shade. This way, you’ll just seamlessly let the 3D bump blend in with the rest of your face. Cystic acne is sensitive—any wrong move might make it worse (or even pop it!). It’s best to use light strokes. Set with powder to make sure it stays undercover all day.
