There’s no denying it: Nude lippie trumped classic red this year. It’s pretty easy to come to that conclusion based purely on what we see on social media—but there’s now an actual report that actually has the numbers to support this claim.
According to ELLE.com, community-based social commerce website Polyvore recently released data that states “nude lipstick” and “matte lipstick” were the top two beauty trends searched this year by its 20 million monthly active users. Search for the former grew by 553 percent, while the latter saw a 267 percent increase in searches.
So where does Kylie Jenner figure in? Well, Polyvore’s No. 1 Female Fashion Icon for 2016 is, as we all know, the woman behind the notorious (and perennially sold out) Kylie Lip Kits. Since launching her first nude colors, Candy K and Dolce K, in November 2015, Kylie has inspired tons of lipstick-wearing people to give matte nudes a try.
