We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may have to commit to frequent laundry days if you want clear skin. You see, everything that touches your face must be clean to prevent bacteria and dirt from building up and causing breakouts. This includes towels, brushes, sponges, bedsheets, and pillowcases.
The pillowcase deserves a special mention because your face directly lays on it for a good five to eight hours while you sleep. It has dead skin and hair gunk (I know, it's gross) within its fibers, which makes it a good breeding area for bacteria. Ergo, if it's dirty, the higher the chances you'll get acne.
Popsugar reported that dermatologists recommend changing your pillowcase at least once a week to prevent acne. And to add to that, dermatologist Debra Jaliman also suggested using a fragrance-free detergent and avoiding fabric softeners if you have sensitive skin.
So there you have it, folks. It's time to stock up on pillowcases or schedule more laundry days!
