Cosmopolitan BEAUTYCON, the biggest beauty and wellness festival in the metro, was held from August 31 to September at the SMX Convention Center. Cosmo girls flocked to the venue to shop the coolest beauty brands, plus they had the chance to meet and listen to the talks of their favorite celebrities and influencers!
One of the speakers of Day 2 was Winnie Wong. She's a YouTuber, lifestyle blogger, illustrator, and teacher! She also has her own brand of journals called The Everyday Planner. Her segment at BEAUTYCON was called Less Is More: How To Simplify Your Beauty Routine.
In her talk, she shared the three guidelines that she applies when it comes to dealing with her beauty products: Understand, Identify, and Apply. She said that this way of thinking has helped her immensely in decluttering her things and chucking out the ones that she doesn't need.
Understand. By this, she means you need to understand your skin—what works for it and what doesn't. Winnie also said that it's vital that you don't fall for the hype of ~new~ things and stick to what you know is good for you. Following fads is what contributes to the majority of the clutter in our vanity table and makeup kits.ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Identify. Perceive your weaknesses—whether it be a falling for "good" deal, chucking stuff out when it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing anymore, or buying *everything* that your fave influencer endorses. Winnie said that these are all common problems, which is why you always have to check yourself and be extra alert whenever you're purchasing things.
Apply. Ask yourself, "Do I have that? Do I need it?" every time you're out shopping. She says that this will make your shopping trips infinitely easier, once you develop the self-control.
While keeping these tips in mind is important, Winnie stresses that it's also important to treat yourself every now and then. She also reminds us that this lifestyle change is not an overnight thing that immediately happens. It's a work in process, but you just need to start.
