This September, we recommend six films to keep you company during the rainy days and nights.
One of the most anticipated local flicks of the year, The Mistress calls out to all you romantics to head to your favorite theater this September 12. In this year’s Star Cinema offering, perennial favorite love team John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo celebrate their 10th year anniversary as a tandem in this romantic drama about—you guessed it—the life of a mistress (Bea) and the man who falls in love with her (John Lloyd).
We've also got popular Cinemalaya 2012 entry Ang Nawawala on our "watch list" as it gets its theatrical release this month. The feature film debut of music video director Marie Jamora is an affecting character drama that delves into family relationships and offers glimpses of Manila's underground music scene. Also, two words: Roco twins.
From the other end of the globe, Hollywood has four movies for you as the “ber” months begin—call it early Christmas presents.
Funny man Ben Stiller livens up a boring suburban neighborhood as he works as a neighborhood patrolman in The Watch. In another movie, a fictional character in a book comes to life and becomes the object of its author’s romantic fancies in Ruby Sparks. Successful film franchise Resident Evil comes back with its fourth installment in Resident Evil: Retribution, with Milla Jovovich reprising her role as the hot heroine. Lastly, Shia LaBeaouf leads the ensemble cast of gangster film Lawless, which also includes Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, and Guy Pearce.
