Angelica Panganiban is not one to mince her words. The feisty actress has been the subject of showbiz news a number of times because of things she has said and spats she has had with other celebs. The latest of these controversies involves the Banana Split star, fellow Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo, and a bunch of Instagram bashers.
It all started when Angelica uploaded this picture mocking herself for being too busy to take a break on August 25:
"Dahil puro trabaho at walang bakasyon. Kunwari na lang nasa ibang bansa ako. At makiki uso ako sa mga pictorial nila kapag out of the country sila, may posing dapat na nag lalakad. Kunwari stolen happiness."
She posted another image on the same day:
Para in na in ako #NowInHawaii”
So why would Bea fans get their panties in a bunch over these posts? Because their idol was recently in Bohol for a vacation, where just a few days prior on August 22, she had uploaded a photo of herself casually laughing—with her left arm holding the phone out to snap the shot herself.
Some Instagram users were quick to assume that Angelica was slamming Bea with her posts, which made Angelica livid and actually reply to users’ comments. Philstar.com has screenshots of her comments to users, one of which reads in part:
“Nakakaloka mga tao! Sarap n’yong murahin! ‘Paka-cheap. Leche.”
Later, Angelica posted that same pic of Bea on her account, with a caption that clarified that she and Bea were friends, that she did not care what other people thought of her, and that she was going to speak her mind if she felt it was necessary.
"Ah! Eto pala yung picture! Pasensya na sa mga fans ni Bei. Sa mga malalawak ang isip, pasensya na. At salamat. If you guys can’t get my sense of humor, then stop following me. Salamat.”
While some Instagram users continued to bash the actress, she had scores of fans rooting for her as well, and her Pangako Sa ’Yo costars Joem Bascon and Alex Medina have even come to her defense. Not surprising for a personality as frank and feisty as Angelica is—she can be a polarizing character. But what’s always so refreshing about her is how unapologetic she is: She’s not trying to please anyone, only herself. You gotta hand it to her. Homegirl’s keepin’ it real.
On August 31, Angelica posted a photo of herself and boyfie John Lloyd Cruz chuckling while on a beach trip. Through the caption “Stolen Happiness - Idan” (Idan is JLC’s nickname), she’s out to show everyone that she’s going to keep using Instagram however the hell she wants, haters be damned.
