It’s no secret that we here at the Cosmo HQ love Atom Araullo. What’s not to love? The TV host and news reporter is handsome, smart, passionate, ambitious, and exactly the kind of guy you’d want to bring home to mom. We’ve featured him in the magazine as Man on Fire in April 2012, extolled his many virtues post-Typhoon Yolanda, captured him getting ready for a fantasy Valentine’s date, and even made him Hey Girl memes, Ryan Gosling-style.
Elsewhere on the interwebs, Atom is no stranger to adoration. In 2013, “Atom Araullo” became a trending topic on Twitter—locally and worldwide—when that ABS-CBN news report showing him braving strong winds in Tacloban during Typhoon Yolanda spread like wildfire online. And two years later, you, Cosmo girls, have made our dear Atom viral again.
When we released a video using footage from that 2014 Valentine’s date shoot—but this time, in slo-mo—you guys shared the hell out of it on social media. And why wouldn’t you? In it, every blink, every movement, every spread of his lips into a warm grin—not to mention that cheeky wink-sabay-kiss at the end—is gloriously stretched out, letting you savor each moment even more.No wonder that, as of this writing, the article post containing the video has been viewed over 44,000 times and shared over 15,000 times.
A few days after the video was released, it was picked up by ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda, where Atom is one of the hosts. During the segment, he poked fun at himself by mimicking his slo-mo self. Which, obviously, made us love him even harder.
And when we posted the video on Facebook, you guys sure stormed the comment thread with your Atom-ic exclamations.
Some of you couldn’t resist getting scientific. Said Facebook user Vī-nasu Tubelleza Marmolejo, “Alammonaman Atom that I'm always a part of you. Love, electron.”
Some of you made no secret of the fact that you played that shit over and over again, like Dannica Bathan, who wrote, “RIP REPLAY BUTTON!! Oeemmmmm”
Some of you immediately started planning out a life with Atom. Said Maya Damias, “OMG! Atom, my parents want to meet you. Then we can talk about our future afterwards. #ChristmasWish”
Some of you just. Couldn’t. Even. Like Vivian Vocalan, who simply wrote, “Don’t do this to me, Atom.”
We feel ya, girls. We feel ya.
