A few days ago, Bea Alonzo was on Edward Barber's Kumu live for an episode of Kwentong Barber. The two caught up and talked about Bea's farm and acting journey, and they eventually touched on matters of the heart.
Edward asked Bea if she's ever been hurt before which caused her to have a hard time trusting people again.
Bea replied, "Getting hurt, oo naman! So many times." She then joked, "I'm so good at it already. Naging suki na!"
Bea went on to say that she's able to channel all her pain into acting. "I think acting—this art form—has become my escape. It's become my refuge. I feel like when I'm hurting, mame-maintain ko yung sanity ko when I'm acting."
Edward paused for a bit, then asked without mentioning any names, "Ate Bea, have you forgiven?"
"I'm working on it, to be honest," answered Bea. "Syempre, every day is a new day. Every day brings different feelings, different news, different experiences. When you feel like you're already there, may bago kang maa-absorb, lalayo ka na naman sa goal mo to forgive."
She continued, "I'm working on it very hard. For me to become a better person—which I am aiming to do every day—I have to be able to pass that stage. So I'm trying so hard. But I cannot say I have forgiven fully. Lalo na kapag hinahanapan mo ng accountability. But then I realized na kahit hindi humingi ng tawad, patawarin mo. But it's easier said than done."
Bea's latest heartbreak happened when her relationship with Gerald Anderson ended. In 2019, she said she was ghosted, and in March 2021, Gerald, in a tell-all with Boy Abunda, said that he simply "walked away" from a "very unhealthy, toxic" relationship. In the same interview, Gerald confirmed that he was dating Julia Barretto and is very happy to be with her.
