Whoa, There Might Be A 'Marina' Remake And Bela Padilla Wants To Star In It

More mermaids on TV, please!

Guys, remember the 2004 ABS-CBN series Marina? It starred Claudine Barretto as a human named Cristina who was cursed by a witch when she was a baby and turns into a mermaid (aka sirena) on her seventh birthday. Her mom, scared for her daughter, releases Cristina into the sea, where she is adopted by fellow mermaids and eventually becomes known as Marina. Only the experience of a first kiss can break the curse!  

Over the years, there have been other mermaid teleseryes such as Mutya (2011) and Dyesebel (2008 and 2014). Check out this snippet from the OG mermaid series of our childhood:  

Here's some exciting news: According to the official Star Cinema Twitter account, there might be a Marina remake! On January 28, they created a poll saying, "Which actress would make a splash as Marina?"

Actress and celeb blogger Bela Padilla quoted the Tweet, saying, "Can I audition for this?" Positive responses from fans poured out, with one even saying, "Who else should take on the role of Marina? Not that I'm biased, but you are the perfect person to portray that role."
