Dina Gadia: The Visualizer

This Fun, Fearless Female Awardee creates unique artworks that are getting raves both here and abroad. Find out more about the young painter and collage artist.

Dina GadiaMany of us have hobbies we enjoy in our free time, but few would dare to forgo a secure day job in order to pursue their passions. That's exactly what artist Dina Gadia did, and her gamble has paid off. The 25-year-old painter and collage artist is quickly becoming a household name in the local contemporary art scene, and her works have even been recognized abroad, too!

This Pangasinan native previously worked in publishing and used her salary to buy art materials for her collages, which are inspired by pop culture, B-movie posters, album covers, comics, and even Disney cartoons. After participating in group and solo exhibits, she eventually quit her day job and devoted herself full-time to her craft. Her bold and irreverent works stand out from traditional museum pieces, and she tells us: "My love for old and quirky things combined equals a wrestle mania of borrowed images and influences in my work."

Dina's art career got a huge boost when she was featured at the Pulse Miami Art Fair last year. Not only did she get rave reviews from critics, but she also got to establish herself with art collectors who were interested in her pieces, which are priced from $420 to $1,000!

We met Dina at the Ronac Art Center for her Fun, Fearless Female Awards 2012 shoot, and she brought one of her original works to be featured in the magazine (flip to p.232 to see it!). Check out Dina's website to see more of her amazing art!
