President-Elect Rodrigo Duterte Catcalls A TV Reporter

'Nagpapapansin ka talaga sa akin ha.'

President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has again become the subject of controversy after he was seen catcalling a journalist during a live press conference in Davao City on Tuesday.

Duterte was shown to have whistled at GMA News reporter and anchor Mariz Umali while she was reading out her question to him.

“Nagpapapansin ka talaga sa akin ha,” he said before whistling at Umali.

The people all around them, presumably journalists and media men, erupted in laughter and teased Umali.

Umali herself didn’t seem offended and was smiling during the incident.

Some netizens said what Duterte did was inappropriate, especially with his standing as the country’s president.

Meanwhile, others said that Duterte was only creating a light moment for the attendees which should not be compared to actual catcalling on the street.

This was not the first time Duterte has been questioned about his actions involving women.

Prior to his win, Duterte became the talk of the town after he made a controversial statement regarding the Australian missionary who was gang raped before being killed during the 1989 Davao hostage crisis.
