Thanks to Wonder Woman, there's a lot of talk about girl power and women who kick ass, especially in superhero movies. So what does the Marvel universe have to offer in terms of fearless, strong-willed women?

Everybody knows Scarlett Johansson as the deadly Black Widow. She's appeared in five movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the Marvel shows on Netflix feature quite a number of other lethal ladies too, and all of them will be appearing in Defenders, airing in August 2017.

Check out this list, and make the most of your Netflix account while you're at it. Warning: minor spoilers ahead!

Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick

Where we saw her: Luke Cage Season One

Why she's cool:

Misty is a detective for the NYPD. She's assigned to the 29th precinct in Harlem, and she's seen her fair share of crime. But she's got what her partner calls "Misty vision," or a special way of analyzing a crime scene, helping her fill in the missing pieces. She's determined to find the truth, and corrupt officials or organized crimeor a shot in the armcan't stop her.

Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter

Where we saw her: Jessica Jones, because, of course, she has her own show!

Why she's cool:

She fights rape culture. She's strong, like, physically strong. She's unafraid to speak her mind, and she's always ready to defend the people she loves, like her best friend Trisha Walker. She acknowledges the fact that she's traumatized, and she has major emotional issues, and she works hard to keep other people from suffering the same fate.

Colleen Wing, played by Jessica Henwick

Where we saw her: Iron Fist Season One

Why she's cool:

She's a really strong fighter. She runs her own dojo, teaching troubled kids so that they stay off the streets. She speaks Mandarin and Japanese. She practices karate and kung-fu, and carries around a katana like you would an umbrella. And honestly, she would be a better Iron Fist than lead character Danny Rand.

Geri Hogarth, played by Carrie-Anne Moss

Where we saw her: Jessica Jones Season One, Daredevil Season Two, Iron Fist Season One

Why she's cool:

Her character in the comics was originally male, but for Jessica Jones, she was written as a lesbian. She's a powerful, no-nonsense attorney. She gives her clients sensible advice and tells them bluntly when things are hopeless. And she wears really nice tailored suits.

Karen Page, played by Deborah Ann Woll

Where we saw her: Daredevil Seasons One and Two

Why she's cool: She's framed for murder, and there are two attempts on her life! But instead of hiding in fear, she signs on with lawyers Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson as the secretary at their very new, barely-earning-anything firm. Her quest for truth eventually leads her away from Nelson and Murdock, and she becomes a journalist the New York Bulletin.

Elektra Natchios, played by Elodie Yung

Where we saw her: Daredevil Season Two

Why she's cool: Okay, she's a spoiled rich girl who always gets her way, and she's a trained assassin. She has no problems killing people. She's manipulative. But, uhm, she has her good points! She can fight as well asif not better than!Daredevil himself. She can be pretty relentless when she wants something, and she usually gets it.

Claire Temple, played by Rosario Dawson

Where we saw her: Daredevil Season One and Two, Luke Cage Season One, Jessica Jones Season One, Iron Fist Season One

Why she's cool:

She's a nurse, which makes her really handy in emergency situations! She's had to stitch up Matt Murdock, Misty Knight, Luke Cage, and Colleen Wing. She's not super-powered like any of her friends, but she's tough and fearless just the same!

Trish Walker, played by Rachael Taylor

Where we saw her: Jessica Jones Season One

Why she's cool:

She was a child star, but lurking behind the stardom was an emotionally abusive, controling mother. Jessica Jones was her adopted sister, and together the two of them grew up and escaped the manipulative mom.

Trish becomes a radio show host, and she uses her show to help Jessica bring down the big bad. It doesn't hurt that she's got mad Krav Maga skills too, which she also uses against manipulative, abusive men!

Madame Gao, played by Wai Ching Ho

Where we saw her: Daredevil Season One, Iron Fist Season One

Why she's cool:

Okay, she's kind of one of the bad guys. But she's also a little Chinese lady who smiles sweetly at you while she sips her tea! Next thing you know, she's shipping drugs through New York, or sending Daredevil or Iron Fist across the room! You're not quite sure what she's plotting, or even how old she really is, which makes her a really scary, really awesome villain.
