Frankie Pangilinan Shares What Being 17 Is Like For Miel Pangilinan's Birthday

Happy birthday, Miel!

Frankie Pangilinan posted the *sweetest* birthday message for her sister Miel Pangilinan who turned 17 on September 2.

Taking to Instagram, Frankie posted several photos of herself with Miel through the years and enumerated what being 17 is like. Among the things that Frankie told her sister: "Suddenly becoming terribly aware of how big and small you are all at once," "Love and loss and love again," "Getting to know yourself, and all the little portions of life that may (just possibly) be worthy of being called your favorites," "Inside jokes with Mommy," "Coming to terms with the noise in your brain, learning from it, [and] liking it, eventually," and "Lulling yourself to sleep with songs that make you feel like everything's going to be alright."

She continued, "When I dwell on my most oft-visited memories, yearning for relief, I later realize they’re all from when I was 17."

Frankie, who recently left the Philippines to continue her studies in New York, became closer to her sister over the course of the pandemic. "Though I’ve often said I was that age when I last felt true joy, the 17 months I spent locked down in an apartment with you, laughing our throats dry and our stomachs sore, was damn blissful," Frankie added. "Being your ate is my favorite thing ever, full stop."

Ending her birthday message for Miel, Frankie said, "What a blessing it is to be near you, to have grown up under the same roof, to have cried and fought with you and had many a spat only to wake up in the morning and miss you with a terrible ache. What a privilege it’s been to exist with you at all."
