Anyone who has been following social media knows the buzz surrounding Gerald Anderson lately, particularly his love life. In a virtual press conference, he shared his thoughts on the perception of the public about him and how he deals with it.
"Minsan nakahiga ako sa kama, iniisip ko yun nga, ang daming nagagalit sa akin dahil sa love life ko, dahil hindi nag-work yung relationship ko."
Gerald recently made headlines after he admitted that he is in a special relationship with Julia Barretto. While some congratulated the two, others gave strong not-so-positive opinions about the couple.
When asked how this affects him, Gerald shared, "Hindi ko goal sa buhay ko na i-please—na sana mag-iba yung isip nyo sa akin. Hindi naman. Kailangan tuloy pa rin ang buhay. Wala akong tinatapakan na tao. I'm just trying to live life and provide for my family. So kapag may perspective ka, malalampasan mo naman."
He did admit, however, that it took him a while to finally brush off criticism from the public. "Hindi pikon. Mas shocked na kayang sabihin ng tao yan sa kapwa tao. But I've come to a point na parang kahit anong gagawin ko, I mean bakit ko i-strestress yung sarili ko sa opinyon ng taong yan? So you have to move on and not take anything personally."
"Things happen in your life for a reason and you have to realize kung ano 'yon—kung saan ka din nagkamali and move on. Move forward with your life."
He also shared his perspective about his plans when it comes to marriage. "You know there is always a right time para sa lahat ng iyan. Gusto ko nang magkapamilya. Is it the right time? I don't think so. I think madami pa kong dapat matutunan. Madami akong natutunan sa pandemic. I'm just taking my time."
The actor celebrated his 32nd birthday on March 7 by volunteering for a relief operation together with Julia. As for how his perspective changed now that he is a year older, he has this to say: "No one will ever push me more than how I push myself."
