Actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld is starring in what critics call the "best" Transformers film, Bumblebee. The 22-year-old already has an Academy Award nomination under her belt (she was only 14 when she received it!), and recently, she said she "would love to" play a Filipino character in a movie.
ICYDK, Hailee is actually part-Pinay. Her grandfather, Ricardo Domasin, is Filipino.
In an interview with ABS-CBN while promoting Bumblebee, Hailee spoke about how important it is to her to pay homage to her Filipino roots by acting. "I have not [come across a story where there's a Filipino character] but if I did, I absolutely would love to," she said. "It's something I am very proud of. I've been [to the Philippines] only once, I have to go again. To this day, going to the Philippines [was] one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had in my career, so I would love to go back. So yeah, if there was ever a part, I would love to play it."
Hailee's first time to visit the Philippines was in 2016 to promote her debut EP where she held a series of concerts in Manila.
