The phenomenal tandem of Alden Richards (see #6) and Maine Mendoza, aka Yaya Dub (see #3), took the Philippines and the world by storm when they were accidentally launched as a love team on Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye in July.

3. Maine Mendoza

This girl-next-door from Bulacan was launched into the world of showbiz after her videos using the Dubsmash app (see #5) became CRAZY viral. 

4. FIBA Asia 2015 (International Basketball Federation/Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball)

It is a continental basketball championship held in Asia this past September where the Philippines’ very own Gilas Pilipinas team lost to China (the host nation) in a controversial game. The Philippines ended up winning second place, but who could forget that time where everyone's social media feeds were flooded with #PUSO! <3

Pinoys also went crazy over this app, where you could take videos of yourself lip-syncing to you favorite songs and movie lines.

6. Alden Richards

This Kapuso heartthrob became a bonafide matinee idol when he was paired with Maine Mondoza in Eat Bulaga. He has since launched his second album to commercial success. 

7. Fifty Shades of Grey

The Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation of the best-selling erotica novel by E.L. James premiered in February starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. People had mixed reviews about the flick, but so many others HATED Jamie as Mr. Grey.

8. APEC Summit

The Asia-Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC) Summit was held in Pasay City on November 18 and 19. World leaders such as President Benigno Aquino III, US President Barack Obama, and the fan favorites, aka APEC Hotties, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto, were in attendance.
