Julia Barretto just added another feather on her cap: as a member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Auxiliary. Yesterday, September 1, the official Facebook account of the PCG shared photos of Julia's donning and oath-taking ceremonies where she was sworn in as Auxiliary Ensign Barretto. Joining her at the ceremony in the National Headquarters was her boyfriend Gerald Anderson, who also happens to be part of the PCG K9 Squadron just like her!
PCG wrote of Julia as such, "As the most senior appointee, Auxiliary Ensign Barretto was given an opportunity to speak on behalf of her fellow PCGA members.
She thanked the PCG, especially the PCGA K9 Squadron, for welcoming her into the field of public service. In return, she pledged to actively support the initiatives of the unit towards the delivery of humble and compassionate service to the Filipino people."
Gerald also posted pictures with Julia on his Instagram and proudly wrote, "Welcome to the PCGA K9 Special Support Squadron AUX ENS Julia Barretto."
Gerald is a Lieutenant Commander of the PCG Auxiliary and has gone on various outreach programs and relief work in recent years. In fact, in November 2020, Gerald and his unit were sent to Cagayan and Isabela for relief operations due to typhoon Ulysses. And in March this year, Gerald was spotted spending his 32nd birthday with Julia at an Aeta community in Iba, Zambales where they handed out basic commodities like canned goods, instant noodles, and hygiene supplies. Julia was low-key about her participation at the relief ops and shared a couple of pictures of her and Gerald. In her Instagram Story, she sweetly wrote, "thank you for sharing your [world] with me @andersongeraldjr [heart emoji]"
