Kuya Kim Atienza Is Low-Key Becoming Everyone's Safe Space Online, And We're Here For It

Kim "Kuya Kim" Atienza meant it when he vowed to spread a "little kindness" every day, and it's clearly showing in the way he checks in on people online—even going as far as volunteering to cover therapy costs so they can seek professional help.
One post from a Threads user quickly gained attention after she revealed how Kuya Kim personally messaged her on the platform and offered to pay for her psychological therapy so she could get the support she needed. His outreach began when the person initially posted, "Need ko po consultation now kahit online. Please." Kuya Kim then responded, "I DM'd you. Tight hug."

"Kuya Kim, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness came at a time when I felt so weak and lost. What you did didn't just help me financially—you gave hope and comfort to someone who was silently fighting her battles," she shared on Threads.
"I will never forget this moment. May God bless you even more for the compassion you showed today. What may seem simple for you meant so much more to me," she added.
In her post, she included a screenshot of their conversation, which showed Kuya Kim offering to shoulder at least eight therapy expenses and encouraging her to seek professional help without worrying about the costs.
"I hear you. It's hard," Kuya Kim wrote.
"Tell me if you have an appointment na ha? Mga 8 sessions yan. Ako na bahala," Kuya Kim assured.

Kuya Kim has consistently been doing this quiet outreach online. In recent weeks, people have been praising him for consistently stepping in and creating a safe space for those who are struggling.
In another viral Threads post that read, "Mama, Papa, hindi ko na po kaya. Sorry po," Kuya Kim quickly showed up and offered support. This time, he invited the person to appear as a guest on his show, TiktoClock.
"Watch TiktoClock live next week as my guest? I'll wait for you, ok?" Kuya Kim replied.

A few days later, Kuya Kim shared on Threads that he had met up with the Threads user. The same person reposted it with the caption, "Thank you so much to everyone who believed in me. You saved a life."
"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to say thank you to those people who genuinely reached me and cheered me battling this feeling… You surely saved a stranger's life. I will always remember this grand moment. I am positively overwhelmed and learned something about this. May everyone feel safe, happy, and positive towards life," he added.

Kuya Kim has also been using his platform to challenge harmful stereotypes surrounding mental health. He was among the public figures who spoke up after Senator Robin Padilla made a remark about the youth as "weak" during a Senate committee hearing. He even defended his statement that depression did not exist in his time: "Hindi kayo katulad nung panahon namin na hindi kami iyakin. Natuto kami, natuto kami sa kalsada, natuto kami na huwag umupo, umiyak."
"While views may differ on how depression is understood across generations, one thing is clear: Support should always be available," Kuya Kim said.
"That's why we've put together a list of 24/7 crisis hotlines, because whether or not the word was used before, the need for help is real for many today," he added.
