Oh no, Lara Quigaman was hospitalized recently after she and her family enjoyed a vacation in Cebu.
The 2005 Miss International took to IG Stories on July 21, Wednesday, to share how she felt physically and emotionally exhausted once they got home. When she thought to herself that she would want some time alone, that's when she got sick.
"Sobrang nag-enjoy kami sa Cebu pero napagod din pala ako. Pag-uwi sa bahay, naramdaman ko ang sobrang pagod. Pati likod ko sobrang sakit. May tatlong bata pang sobrang clingy at medyo 'di ko na kinaya. I had a meltdown. Naiyak ako at sabi ko sa sarili ko, gusto ko lang muna mag-isa. Magpahinga. Gusto ko ng tahimik. Maya-maya, nilagnat na ako, nag-chills."
Because Lara had the COVID-19 symptoms of fever and chills, she had to isolate herself. After two days, she was brought to a hospital. Thankfully, she tested negative for COVID.
"I felt guilty for wanting to rest. I got what I wished for, but it was horrible. I was in pain and shivering and alone. But God knew I needed to rest. He reminded me that my children will survive without me. That I also need to take care of me."
Lara stayed in the hospital for a few more days until she started to feel better.
"I spent three nights in the hospital. The first two nights were horrible because I still had [a] high fever, pain, and chills, but the last night, I think tulo-laway tulog na ako." LOL.
She revealed the diagnosis: acute pyelonephritis or a kidney infection. It's a kind of urinary tract infection (UTI) that travels to the kidneys, which, when not treated immediately, can lead to permanent kidney damage or a more serious infection.
"Nakapag-selfie na ako dito kasi pinayagan na ako umuwi ng doctor. Acute pyelonephritis. I was given antibiotics via IV. Now getting better. Thank You, Jesus!"
Lara is back home and shared a note to herself to "rest and take it easy. And to ask for and accept HELP."
We're glad she's made a full recovery!
