What do we know about Mamma Mia 2's plot?
Deadline says Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again "goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present," and will act as a half-prequel, half-sequel to the original.
The story revisits Donna and her suitors while still checking in with our favorite singing family, flashing between past and present after Sophie (Amanda Sefried) confides in mom Donna (Meryl Streep) that she's struggling to cope with being pregnant. Donna comforts her by explaining the story of her own pregnancy, and the emotional turmoil that came with it.
The film then flashes between Sophie's current day pregnancy, and Donna's pregnancy many years prior, following how Donna fell pregnant in the first place, and coped with the perils that followed.
