Meet Caitlyn Jenner, "Vanity Fair" Cover Star

Formerly known as Bruce Jenner.

Note: Following the 20/20 interview which served as confirmation of their gender transition, Caitlyn Jenner and her family had continued to use male, female, and gender-neutral pronouns, as well as Caitlyn's previous name. As the Vanity Fair cover above makes clear, however, Caitlyn is now choosing to be identified publicly as a woman—Cosmopolitan.com will be using gender-neutral pronouns ("they," "their") on occasion to refer only to past events relevant to Caitlyn's life story. Vanity Fair promises "unfettered access" to Caitlyn and her family in the feature accompanying her cover—the story will discuss "tensions, traumas, and courage that shaped Caitlyn into the woman you see today." Of her previous identity, Caitlyn says they "always had to tell a lie, every day." They always "had a secret," she adds, but "Caitlyn has no secrets." And shooting her Vanity Fair cover, Caitlyn says "is about who I am as a person...as soon as the cover comes out, I'm free." Sharing similarly beautiful sentiments, Caitlyn's daughter Kendall tweeted this:

Caitlyn is also newly on Twitter, and verified:

Her Twitter bio explains that she's "so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self," adding, "welcome to the world Caitlyn." Her Twitter background is a rainbow—and via Facebook, which Caitlyn has also just joined to keep up with all the Kardashians cool kids these days and their social media, it's a rainbow photographed just over the horizon from Caitlyn's Malibu mansion:
