Meet Caitlyn Jenner, "Vanity Fair" Cover Star

Formerly known as Bruce Jenner.

Note: Following the 20/20 interview which served as confirmation of their gender transition, Caitlyn Jenner and her family had continued to use male, female, and gender-neutral pronouns, as well as Caitlyn's previous name. As the Vanity Fair cover above makes clear, however, Caitlyn is now choosing to be identified publicly as a woman— will be using gender-neutral pronouns ("they," "their") on occasion to refer only to past events relevant to Caitlyn's life story. We will otherwise be using female pronouns.

Rumors broke last week that, following their much-reported gender transition, Bruce Jenner would introduce "her," the female identity they has chosen to live as in recent months, to the world at large on the cover of Vanity Fair. (As had previously been confirmed by the Kardashians, Caitlyn's close friends and family had already had the opportunity to meet her in private.)

And would you look at that, here she is, fronting the magazine's July issue in a corseted bodysuit. "Meet Caitlyn Jenner," Vanity Fair's intro line proudly touts. And Caitlyn, really, it's a pleasure to meet you.

Vanity Fair promises "unfettered access" to Caitlyn and her family in the feature accompanying her cover—the story will discuss "tensions, traumas, and courage that shaped Caitlyn into the woman you see today." Of her previous identity, Caitlyn says they "always had to tell a lie, every day." They always "had a secret," she adds, but "Caitlyn has no secrets."
