Buckle up because Netflix is putting women in the driver's seat. The global streaming platform is dropping another must-watch sports series—this time shining the spotlight on the fierce women breaking barriers (and breaking the podium!) at the 2024 F1 Academy.

You read that right—F1: The Academy is premiering exclusively on Netflix! It's packed with high-speed adrenaline and all the emotional hustle that goes down on (and off) the tracks. Oh, we can't wait to see more of this soon!

What is Netflix's F1: The Academy?

For those who are still low-key unfamiliar when it comes to F1 matters, F1: The Academy centers on what goes on inside the F1 Academy. Essentially, the F1 Academy is a single-seater racing competition specifically made for women. To amplify and encourage young female drivers to push their limits in the motorsport industry, Formula 1 launched the Academy to give them the platform they deserve.

Similar to Formula 1: Drive to Survive, the new F1 docuseries will introduce us to exclusive behind-the-scenes access, rivalries, and backstories of the female drivers during the 2024 F1 Academy season. Basically, the seven-part docuseries will show us what it truly takes for women to survive in the male-dominated world of Formula 1.

Aside from featuring up-and-coming female drivers, F1: The Academy features Susie Wolff, who was hailed as the first woman to participate in a Formula 1 weekend in 22 years. At present, she's acknowledged as one of the most respected women in the motorsport industry—all while leading and training aspiring female drivers.

When is F1: The Academy showing?

Produced by Reese Witherspoon's production company called Hello SunshineF1: The Academy will be available for streaming on Netflix starting May 28, 2025.

Which teams are participating in the F1 Academy?

Launched in 2023, the F1 Academy covers seven (!) race weekends in different countries and is based on the F1 calendar. Drivers are split into six teams: Prema Racing, Rodin Motorsport, Campos Racing, MP Motorsport, ART Grand Prix, and Hitech TGR.

Who can participate in the F1 Academy?

Each F1 Academy driver represents a Formula 1 team and goes head-to-head to prove who's the fastest behind the wheel—or who has the best car on the grid. The drivers should be 16 to 25 years old at the start of the season.

The 2025 season is already heating up with races kicking off in Shanghai and recently held in Jeddah.
