Ah, it's the weekend and you're ready for some downtime. It's drizzling outside and your doggo's curled up next to you. Time to bring out a laptop and get lost in the world of no commercials, 20 to 40-minute episodes, and fresh new seasons! Here's what's in store on Netflix this August:
This medieval animated series from The Simpsons creator Matt Groening follows the misadventures of a hard-drinking princess named Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon called Luci. We're all for animated shows targeted at adults! After all, why let kids have all the fun, right? Disenchantment will be available for streaming on August 17.
After years of being bullied for her weight, Patty (Debby Ryan) suddenly drops a bunch of pounds, becomes "attractive," and vows to get revenge on those who made her life miserable by competing in beauty pageants. It won't be released until August 10, but there's already a petition to have it canceled. The backlash resulted after Insatiable's trailer encourages fat-shaming and implied that being thin = being beautiful and popular.
June (Sorcha Groundsell) runs away to London with her boyfriend Harry (Percelle Ascott). Suddenly, she finds herself at the center of a kidnapping plot. Also, her body starts to shift—literally. This supernatural series reminds us of our YA novel days! The Innocents will debut on Netflix on August 24.
