The entertainment industry is mourning the passing of Philippine cinema's Superstar, Nora Aunor, on April 16, 2025. The seasoned actress was 71 years old.
Her son, Ian De Leon, broke the sad news to the public through a Facebook post. "With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Nora C. Villamayor 'Nora Aunor' who left us on today April 16, 2025 at the age of 71," he wrote.
Ian went on to share just how much Nora meant—not only to their family, but to anyone who became a part of her life. "She was the heart of our family—a source of unconditional love, strength, and warmth," he says. "Her kindness, wisdom, and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever. Details to be announced tomorrow."
Janine Gutierrez and Lotlot De Leon express sorrow for Nora Aunor's death
Over on Instagram, Lotlot De Leon also announced the passing of their mother. There, she noted how Nora touched lives because of her talent and passion for her craft as an actress. "She touched generations with her unmatched talent, grace, and passion for the craft. Her voice, presence, and artistry shaped a legacy that will never fade."
She added, "She was a star not only on screen, but in the hearts of many—and stars like hers never stop shining. Her light lives on—forever loved, never forgotten."
By noon of April 17, 2025, Lotlot and their family shared the memorial services schedule for their mom, which will start at 7 p.m. on April 17 at The Heritage Park and will conclude with a mass and state funeral on April 22, 2025.

Lotlot's daughter, Janine Gutierrez, also posted a farewell post for her grandmother, Nora. Her post comes five days after they also announced her paternal grandmother's, Pilita Corrales, passing.

Janine describes Nora as the treasure of their family and the Filipino people. "She's had a life of giving her immeasurable love to everyone she touched, whether on screen, through music, or in person," Janine stated.
She concluded the post by thanking everyone who supports them and keeps them in their prayers as they journey through this sorrowful season of their lives. "We find comfort in knowing she, the one and only Superstar, will be forever loved," she said.
Celebrities Mourn The Passing Of Nora Aunor
Before Nora explored the world of showbiz, she was a wonderful singer. At 14 years old, she won the singing competition Tawag ng Tanghalan. ABS-CBN News reported about Nora's visit to the vlogger, Boss Toyo's pawn shop, where she brought the dress she wore when she won the competition. Its worth? Well, the vlogger valued Nora's dress at P5 million!
Following her Tawag ng Tanghalan success, she had her debut film titled All Over The World in 1967. Then, Nora delved into more intense, emotionally heavy drama films—roles that earned her even more accolades, as expected. Films like the Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos, In Ka ng Anak Mo, Bulaklak sa City Jail, and, of course, Himala, became avenues for her to leave a mark on the Filipino people.
In 2022, Nora was hailed as a National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts. She starred in about 170 films, where she bagged numerous awards and recognitions from both local and international award-giving bodies. She's received Gawad Urian and FAMAS awards, a recognition from the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), and get this: she's the Best Actress winner for the 7th Asian Film Awards for her film, Thy Womb.

Lovi Poe
In a heartfelt IG post, Lovi Poe uploaded photos of her and Nora taken while filming Thy Womb. Lovi underscored how honored she was to have worked with the Superstar, who's nothing but humble and gracious.
"Despite her legendary status, she carried herself with such modesty—confident in her craft, yet never boastful. She worked with quiet strength, always professional, always prepared, and yet she had this loving, nurturing presence on set that made everyone feel seen and respected," Lovi said.

Vilma Santos-Recto
Another legend in the Philippine showbiz world, Vilma Santos-Recto, also extended her sympathy towards Nora's family. In an IG Story, Vilma wrote, "Our sincerest condolences and prayers. Rest in peace, Mare. Our Superstar and National Artist, maraming salamat!"
Having worked since they were young, Nora and Vilma starred together in the 1982 noir crime film T-Bird At Ako. At the time, it was one of the first films in Philippine cinema that opened eyes to the LGBT community in the country.

Hilda Koronel
Hilda Koronel shared in a post that there were talks of her and Nora reuniting again for a project years back. She has worked with Nora in the films Beloved and Naka ng Pag-ibig.
Hilda wrote on her Instagram, "You are now home with the Lord. What a big loss to our industry. But you will never be forgotten."
Kyline Alcantara
Kyline Alcantara has also posted about Nora. The two worked together in the GMA teleserye called Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit, together with Mylene Dizon. Kyline shared on her IG Story a photo of the three of them with the caption, "May you rest in peace, Ms. Nora. It's an honor to work with you."
