Pamela Anderson Is Playboy's Last Nude Cover Girl

It's an end of an era.

Pamela Anderson is Playboy magazine’s very last nude model.

Two months after bosses at the men's publication announced they would stop featuring pictures of naked women, they confirmed that Pam, who has posed for the magazine several times, received a personal call from founder Hugh Hefner's attorney, during which she was invited to grace the cover topless one last time.

"[The] attorney said, 'We don't want anybody else," Pamela tells Entertainment Tonight.

It was one of Pam's sons who informed her that the magazine was undergoing a transformation, and after her initial shock, she admits she understands why the publishers would want to change direction.

"I was like, 'What, are you serious?'" she continues. "But then I thought that's probably a good thing. It's hard to compete with the Internet. And the girl next door doesn't exist anymore. She's taking selfies down her shirt, like, you know, there's no mystery over there anymore. It doesn't have that same charm and innocence that it used to."

She was initially hesitant to participate in the shoot, because her sons were teased and challenged to fist fights over her past racy photoshoots, so she turned to them before agreeing to bare all one more time.

"I said, 'Hef just called, he wants me to do the last cover of Playboy,'" she adds. "[Brandon] goes, 'Mom you've got to do it. We're older, we're not embarrassed anymore of you. You know, we think you're great.' He was so excited. He may have high-fived me! And then I asked [17-year-old] Dylan too, and Dylan's like, 'Mom, you know you've done it all.' I don't know what to say but they were really excited for me, and I was excited too."

The model-actress is grateful she was given a chance to pose for Playboy one more time, because she has started to feel insecure about her aging appearance.

"People have been asking me over the last year, 'Would you ever pose for Playboy again?'" she giggles. "I'm like, 'They're never going to ask... I mean, I'm sure they're sick of me.' So when Hef asked, I couldn't help myself. I had a rough few years where I felt a little insecure, 'cause, you know, everyone's getting older.

"I thought, 'My gosh, I miss the Playboy days!' It was so glamorous, it was so chivalrous, there's so many people there that were so smart... I just kind of miss that whole crowd and us being these little giggling girls kind of running around the mansion half naked and trying to get everybody's attention."

The January/February issue featuring Pamela Anderson will hit newsstands on December 11.
