South Korea has officially been identified as the second country outside of China to have the most number of COVID-19 cases. The epicenter of the outbreak is the city of Daegu, where reports have linked the spread of the virus to a Christian group.
Because of the situation, several South Korean actors have taken action by donating money to help the efforts to address the outbreak. It was confirmed Park Seo Joon donated 100 million Won (around P4.1M) to the Daegu branch of the Community Chest of Korea. "After hearing news that Daegu lacks 'negative-pressure rooms' to isolate the patients and other essential medical equipment for treatment, the actor donated his money to help it purchase the equipment," said the organization, according to The Korea Times.
Crash Landing On You star Son Ye Jin, whose hometown is Daegu, also made a generous donation of 100 million Won to the Community Chest of Korea. "I hope that [my donation] can provide some sort of practical help to lower-income residents who desperately need help now more than ever, as well as aid in the treatment and prevention of COVID-19," the actress said. Her donation will be used to provide more medical supplies for the people of Daegu.
Other actors like Lee Young Ae, Kim Go Eun, and more have also donated money to fund the efforts to contain the virus.
