It was back in 2018 when Andi Eigenmann chose to lead a more low-key life in Baler. It was also around that time that she met professional surfer Philmar Alipayo, who's based in Siargao. In a new video posted on Andi's YouTube channel, Happy Islanders, the cute couple indulged their fans by answering questions about their relationship—including how their love story began.
They quickly became friends after they met, casually commenting on each other's Instagram posts. When she visited Siargao by herself, a mutual friend invited Andi to hang out with her and other friends on a bridge at sunset, and Philmar was there.
According to Philmar, his mom said "an actor friend" was looking for him and he had no idea who. Andi said, "I think that's what made me more comfortable with Philmar. Just like me only getting to know him, it's the same for him because he didn't know anything about me. I had to share everything so that was really nice and refreshing. We got really close and we got along so well."
Philmar went to Manila for training and Andi accompanied him. She continued, "Our relationship got stronger. But for me, I really knew that there's a future because of his relationship with Ellie. Because he's my friend, I didn't have to overthink about introducing them." Turning to Philmar, she asked, "How did you know it was love?" After a few shared giggles, he said it was when they had to part ways when he returned to Siargao: "I realized that I'm happy with you...na masaya akong pinapasaya ka." KILIG!!!
Andi and Philmar welcomed their first child together, Lilo Eigenmann Alipayo, on July 23, 2019.
