The Miss Universe organization redefined the international pageant scene when it lifted its age limit for aspiring beauty queens globally starting in 2024. For Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, this is good news.
Pia said that the "no age limit" policy gives more women a chance to dream bigger and to explore their potential. "This opens the doors to so many more women na kumbaga nasayang na nag-reach na ng age limit or dahil they decided to start a family, hindi na sila nakasali ulit," the beauty queen explained.
She noted that some former candidates might consider participating again because of the recent development of the competition. "Our wish list is getting longer because now we have the former candidates who are considering coming back and that makes it more interesting," Pia said.
When asked if there's someone that comes to Pia's mind who should vie for the Miss Universe crown once again, she carefully responded with two women in mind. Both exude the rich and natural Filipina beauty, said Pia.
"Yes, but baka ma-pressure sila. Gagawin ko ba 'to?" Pia then further stated, "Si Alaiza Malinao. Nakikita ko 'yung mga posts niya, she's very open. She shares about motherhood and what's it like. She's a mother of two now."
The Cosmopolitan Philippines October 2023 cover girl then expressed her apologies for Alaiza if it's something that is out of her targets at the moment as a mother of two. However, she firmly believes that Alaiza, a former Miss Universe finalist, still has what it takes to deserve the crown. "She's really very Pinay. As in, I can envision it. I don't know if it's her goal. Sorry, Alaiza if I'm putting you on the spot," she remarked.

Another person who Pia thinks can vie for the Miss Universe title is Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015, Christi McGarry. Pia revealed that Christi has decided to leave pageants and has pivoted her career into hosting, modeling, and being a DJ at the moment. Aside from her stunning potential, Pia thinks that Christi's story would be an interesting take on how the lifting of age restrictions is such a significant push for others to try and dream higher.
"She's very tall, morena, Pinay, ang ganda din. So I'm thinking, I think ka-age ko siya so it would be interesting to see someone who decided to let go of pageants, but then now that the restrictions are off, decide to 'maybe I'll try again.' Ang ganda rin ng kwento na ganon na nagbalik-loob," Pia explained.

With the changes in the age limit policy of Miss Universe, Pia says that the pageant is going on the right path, especially in empowering women.
"You'll see a different dynamic in a woman na pwede pa lang maging inspiration kahit na may anak na, pwede pa lang maging inspiration kahit na nasa above 28 years old. Bakit nga ba hanggang 28 years old lang? Ano bang difference ng 28 sa 32? [...] So I think it's going on the right path," she declared.
