It looks like Pia Wurtzbach will need to extend her stay in Dubai.
Pia flew to Dubai early in July to reunite with her boyfriend, Jeremy Jauncey.
On July 28, Wednesday, Pia tweeted a response to a netizen who was asking her if she was affected by the lockdown in Dubai. The United Arab Emirates (UAE), which reopened tourism in 2020, announced a partial lockdown on July 16.
"Totoo po bang na-lockdown kayo sa Dubai? Kaya po 'di kayo nakauwi ng Pinas?"
Pia replied, "Yes! Kaya ang daming 'di makauwi sa Pilipinas na mga OFWs. I really feel for them. May mga nakilala at nakausap na rin ako dito at 'di nga sila makauwi. Sana bumaba na Delta cases at ma-lift na yung ban na ito lalo na kung vaccinated na rin naman mga kababayan natin."
On July 30, Friday, Malacanang announced that Metro Manila would be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20. The lockdown is intended to prepare for a possible surge in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant.
Pia also emphasized the importance of more people being vaccinated in order to prevent the further mutation of the virus.
"It's super important talaga na magpabakuna when you get the chance. Kasi habang tumatagal na hindi nababakunahan, lalong mag e-evolve yung virus over time. Dapat mag ingat talaga and magpa-vaccinate as soon as may chance!"
In another tweet, Pia thanked a netizen who shared dates of repatriation flights to the Philippines.
