The Return of Kings pro-masculine group that was reportedly promoting the legalization of rape under certain circumstances has canceled its international meeting including the one supposedly scheduled on February 6 in Greenbelt, Makati City.
Return of Kings (ROK) founder Roosh Valizadeh explained in a post that the cancelation of their event was due to security concerns for their members after other groups have threatened to gate crash their meeting and beat them up.
“I can no longer guarantee the safety or privacy of the men who want to attend on February 6, especially since most of the meetups can not be made private in time,” he said.
“While I can’t stop men who want to continue meeting in private groups, there will be no official Return Of Kings meetups. The listing page has been scrubbed of all locations. I apologize to all the supporters who are let down by my decision,” he added.
Initially, Roosh planned an international gathering consisting 165 meetings between men pushing for ‘neomasculinity’ in over 43 countries.
But plans of the meetup which was publicly posted online raked in massive negative feedback particularly from angry women who strongly disagree with ROK’s controversial stand on rape.
According to the International Business Times, Roosh stated that raping women should be legalized if the deed is done on private property.
This, along with the then planned international meeting, fanned the flames and resulted in women and their male supporters bashing ROK on their social media channels.
But Roosh denied that he was pro-rape, saying that his article on the topic was misunderstood and blown out of proportion.
I'll state once again: the "How To Stop Rape" article was satire. Neither me or my supporters want rape to be legalized. The media is lying.— Roosh (@rooshv) February 3, 2016
ROK describes itself as a group for masculine, heterosexual men “who believe men should be masculine and women should be feminine.”
Among the group’s community beliefs are: “A woman’s value significantly depends on her fertility and beauty. A man’s value significantly depends on his resources, intellect, and character.”
