Ryan Bang is opening up about one of the most difficult chapters of his life.

In Vice Ganda's recent YouTube vlog, "Mga Naka Naka Kong Broken, Nagsalita Na!", the comedian sat down with his It's Showtime co-hosts Ryan and Jackie Gonzaga for a casual Korean lunch at Paldo, Ryan's restaurant in Quezon City.

What started as a lighthearted catch-up among longtime friends eventually turned into a heartfelt conversation about love and heartbreak. During the vlog, Vice asked Ryan about his current relationship status, prompting the actor and host to reveal that he has been single for months. "Ako, personally, sa side ko, January," Ryan shared.

According to him, the final weeks of 2025 were spent trying to save the relationship with his ex-fiancée Paola Huyong while slowly accepting that things were no longer working out. Even then, he admitted that he was still hoping they could find a way back to each other.

"Tinry ko na ayusin kasi alam ko, nu'ng panahon na 'yun, hindi ko maintindihan ba't... hindi dapat umabot ng ganito. I was trying, I was hoping, I was praying na maayos," he said. Ryan had already proposed and was preparing for a future with Paola. "Siyempre sa relationship, meron din akong kasalanan, pero I never cheat," he clarified.

When Vice Ganda asked what led to the breakup, Ryan explained that cultural differences eventually became a challenge as they began talking more seriously about marriage and family life. "Grateful pa rin ako kasi sobrang bait [ng] pamilya [niya] hanggang ngayon, lalo na yung magulang niya. But I was talaga fixing [the relationship]. Gusto rin ng pamilya ko na i-fix, but we found out na magkaiba pala kami ng kultura."

Ryan has spent more than a decade building his life and career in the Philippines. Since placing second on Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash of 2010, he has embraced Filipino culture so much that many people often joke he's already more Filipino than Korean.

But as he explained during the vlog, marriage brought up realities he hadn't fully considered before. "Sabi ko Pilipino ako, pero yung pamilya ko pala kasi, nasa Korea eh. Magkaiba pala yung paniniwala, magkaiba yung gawi, tsaka magkaiba yung thinking lalo na pagdating sa marriage."

A Quick Look Back At Ryan Bang And Paola Huyong's Love Story

Ryan and Paola's relationship first became public in August 2023 when the host proudly announced on It's Showtime that he was finally in a relationship.

From there, Paola became a visible part of Ryan's life. She joined him on trips, appeared in his vlogs, and stood by him during major career moments. One of those was when his Showtime family traveled to Hong Kong, where Paola also joined the group and spent time with Ryan and his co-hosts.

In February 2024, Ryan proudly introduced Paola as his girlfriend during the opening of his Korean restaurant, marking another milestone in their relationship. The following month, the couple flew to Japan to watch Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour, which Ryan documented in his vlog.

You know it's getting really serious when there's already a meet-the-family. By June 2024, Ryan brought Paola to South Korea and had a meaningful family meet-up. It was something that Ryan had long hoped for, as it brought together important people in his life.

By June 2024, Ryan and Paola got engaged. Ryan went down on one knee and popped the question at Paola's café business, Siesta Horchata Café. It was a full-on celebration when Paola said yes.

But in late 2025, fans began noticing subtle changes online, including reports that the two had unfollowed each other on Instagram. In an article from PEP, Paola was also reportedly seen clarifying during a business event that she and Ryan were "just friends," despite him visiting with a bouquet of flowers.

And then came this year, when Ryan finally confirmed that the engagement had been called off. In his conversation with Vice Ganda, he shared that the breakup marked one of the hardest and darkest periods of his life.

But while it didn't end in a happily-ever-after, one thing's for sure: it was still a love story many got to witness and root for along the way.

We're always wishing the best for Ryan and Paola!
