Here’s What We Know About 'Baka Bukas' Director Samantha Lee’s New Film

It's called 'Billie and Emma' and we're excited!

There's a new homegrown LGBTQ film on the way, and it's directed by Samantha Lee, the same filmmaker behind the 2016 flick Baka Bukas which starred Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Louise delos Reyes. This year, we have Billie and Emma to look forward to and here's what we know (so far):

1. Samantha Lee first made an announcement about it in March.

"My second film is another queer film."

2. Billie and Emma is part of this year's QCinema International Film Festival.

The festival runs from October 21 to 30. Billie and Emma tells the story of obedient daughter and model student Emma who falls in love with the new kid in school—a city girl named Billie. Things get more complicated when Emma finds out she's pregnant.

3. The roles of Billie and Emma are played by actresses Zar Donato and Gabby Padilla.

We recently saw Gabby in Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral as Dolores Nable Jose and in the YouTube series Sabagay Life as Timi. Zar, on the other hand, is a filmmaker and videographer who appears to be new to the acting scene. The film also stars Beauty Gonzales as Emma's mom and Ryle Tan as her boyfriend.

4. Get ready for more throwbacks because the film is set in the '90s!

It's here to remind us of the things we loved from our childhood (think: brick games + posters on our walls). Check out these teaser photos from the film's Instagram account:
