Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez have decided to postpone their much-anticipated wedding amid coronavirus disease (COVID-19) concerns. According to reports, they were supposed to tie the knot tomorrow, March 14, in Manila.
On Instagram, the couple posted the same photo and message: “As much as we want to celebrate our love with our family and friends, in light of the recent situation, we have decided to postpone our wedding as we do not want to put anyone at risk.”
“Thank you so much to those who flew in and to everyone who worked so hard for our special day. We only wish good health for everyone and we hope to celebrate with you as soon as things get better,” said the couple, who are parents to two kids, Zion and Kai.
They made the announcement yesterday, March 12, before Pres. Rodrigo Duterte announced that Metro Manila will be put on community quarantine. From March 15 to April 14, travel to and from Metro Manila by land, air, and sea will be limited in an effort to contain the virus. As of the latest count, the number of cases in the Philippines has reached 52, with majority from Metro Manila.
Raymond Gutierrez, Richard’s twin brother, said it was a difficult decision for the couple to make. He posted on Instagram, “One year of planning with hundreds of people involved and guests from all over the world already in town to celebrate the big day.”
“I’m very proud of them for choosing the safety of their guests and putting everyone’s wellbeing at the forefront. In a time where the world feels so uncertain and full of fear, your love for each other makes us hopeful for the future. Continue to be an example and we will celebrate once everything gets better.”
