Selena Gomez: 'I Think People Really Wanted To See Me Fail'

She also says people made her relationship with Justin into something more tragic than it was.

Selena Gomez has made very clear that she'd like the tabloids to stop talking about her and Justin Bieber, and in a new interview with Refinery29, she closes that chapter of her life for good, saying that at this point, there's "no anger" and that people are "making it out to be something more tragic than it was."

When asked about "Same Old Love," and whether it's really about her relationship with Justin (basically, everyone in the world thinks it is), Selena replied: "You can try to work on things and fix them, but at the end of the day, you have to accept what is in front of you, and that's sometimes hard to do ... I think there are people who have been in my life who are seasonal. Even people who I have dated have been just that. It's part of growing up."

She continued: "I think people really wanted to see me fail...I'd sit down in an interview and get the most harshly asked questions. Of course I got my heart broken. Of course I was pissed about it. There, everybody has it. I was so disappointed, because I never wanted my career to be a tabloid story."

Selena also opened up about why she decided to pose nude on the cover of Revival. "It's not something where I'm like, let me glorify what I do in the bedroom," she said. "But I think I have a very healthy perspective on my sexuality. It's part of being an adult, and I'm still figuring out how to be one of those, too."
