All is really well between Sharon Cuneta and her daughter, KC Concepcion. That's something that the mother-daughter duo shared with the world with their new set of photos together.
It's true. KC posted the happiest snaps with her mom on Instagram. KC just celebrated her 40th (!) birthday, and what better way is there to celebrate it with your mom, right? She captioned the post, "Birthday moments!" showing off pics of her and Sharon sitting beside each other with the brightest smiles ever. While they had the best time together, Sharon also disclosed her unfortunate health experience to the public.
The pictures actually came with a statement from Sharon on her personal Instagram account, expressing her apologies for her absence from her husband Kiko Pangilinan's campaign rally in Bulacan. She revealed that she had extreme nausea throughout her beach trip.
"I am so sorry po sa lahat ng dumalo sa rally ni Kiko sa Bulacan kahapon dahil hindi po ako makapunta...April 7 po sosorpresahin ko si KC sa paborito naming resort para sa birthday niya. Bago po ako umalis, 'di ko po alam bakit bigla pong humilab ng grabe ang sikmura ko at duwal ako nang duwal," she wrote on her social media.
The Megastar noted that it was the first time that she experienced that much pain and vomiting due to an unknown and unforeseen reason. Despite that, she powered through it and celebrated her eldest daughter's birthday.
Sharon Cuneta and KC Concepcion's relationship
In case you missed it, reports about Sharon and KC's strained relationship have been circulating online. In May 2024, Sharon addressed it publicly, saying, "Ano man ang problema namin ng panganay ko because at this point, we're estranged. And I'm very, very hurt," she revealed.
Sharon added, "But there are things na... tama na 'yun. Amin na lang. Kahit bali-baliktarin mo ang mundo, mahal mo pa rin ang anak mo. So tiis-tiis na lang muna. Dadating ang point na ayoko nang isiksik ang sarili ko sa anak ko." This came after Sharon filed a cyber libel complaint against showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin.
The public has been closely following Sharon and KC for some time. Even before Sharon acknowledged their strained relationship, KC had been speaking out about challenges related to her position as Sharon's daughter.
The controversy escalated, especially after KC unfollowed her half-sister, Frankie Pangilinan, and stepdad, Kiko Pangilinan. "Kapag showbiz po talaga, 'no, parang lumalaki. Hindi naman po masama na magkaroon ng time na meron kayong inu-unfollow or ifa-follow. Mahirap lang po talaga kapag showbiz yung family, talagang lahat pinupuna," KC explained in a 2023 interview, addressing the scrutiny showbiz families often face.
KC also emphasized that no family is immune to imperfections and disagreements. "Like I said, may mga complicated po talaga sa blended family. Hindi po kami perpekto and hindi po laging kailangang perfect. Wala naman po akong gustong ikwento pa apart from the fact na, ako I just want peace of mind, I want to be happy, I want my family to be happy," she shared.
Despite their past issues, the two ended 2024 on a positive note after KC revealed on her IG that they had resolved their differences.
