The Maine: Of Hot Lead Singers And A New Wave Of Music

Get to know US band The Maine, led by frontman John O'Callaghan, as they introduce their multi-hyphenated music genre to Manila.

Tired of the same old mainstream music that’s on repeat on local radio stations? Well, if you’re into anything indie, then maybe you should check out the different genre of music presented by this American rock band from Tempe, Arizona called The Maine.

In this era of social networking sites, the boys of this alternative-pop-rock band made a name for themselves by taking advantage of Myspace, which is popular among music lovers. There, they let their creative juices burst into something that became the talk of the Myspace crowd and beyond.

The Maine is composed of hot lead singer John O’Callaghan, bassist Garret Nicklsen, drummer Pat Kirch, guitarist and vocalist Kennedy Brock, and guitarist Jared Monaco. The band started a new wave of music that would tickle the ears of listeners: mixing '90s alternative music with all sorts of other genre the band could think of! As John said, their music can be classified as “punk, rocker, goth, emo, and gospel.” Pretty much all-in-one, right?

So, if you're in the mood to headbang or just purge your strong emotions with music, The Maine's sounds are exactly what you should listen to. While they may sound too much for some, the band's songs are actually easy to listen to and fun to sing along with on long road trips with friends.
