No matter your feelings on The Ring, the image of Samara—or Sadako for us—crawling out of a television and into your living room is something that will never, ever leave your brain once you’ve seen the movie.
In anticipation of the new sequel Rings (out February 17), some dedicated pranksters built a fake wall at an electronics store in New York, then filmed customers getting the pants scared off them by a real woman who popped out of one of the TVs when they least expected it.
As you might expect, there were a lot of screams, some running away, and even some frantic knocking over of other objects in the store, because the best way to stop a demonic TV ghost coming for your soul is to throw a bunch of boxes in her path. Maybe stick to watching movies on your phone (unless Samara’s invasion abilities are also wired for iPhones, in which case just never be around screens ever.)
