We were all blessed when Paulo Avelino played Gregorio Del Pilar in Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral last year and now another cutie is taking on a very important historical role. The Voice Philippines Season 2 finalist Tim Pavino, who was mentored by Filipina Broadway legend Lea Salonga on the show, is taking on the theater scene as Emilio Aguinaldo!
Here's Tim with an adorable bunny...
...and a candid shot of him during a concert:
Tim is currently starring as Aguinaldo in Repertory Philippines' Miong, a musical about the first Philippine president's life. "Miong" was the late president's nickname and the play is being staged just in time for the celebration of Emilio Aguinaldo's 150th birth anniversary. It will depict the first 27 years of Miong's life, from his childhood and start in politics to becoming the president and declaring independence.
Check out these photos of Tim and the cast in character!
Fun fact: Tim and Emilio ~almost~ share the same birthday! Emilio was born on March 22 and Tim on March 24 (he's turning 29 this year). Coincidence? MAYBE. This def makes us feel like the role was meant just for him!
Miong, which had its first performance last night, is written and directed by Joy Virata. It also stars Noel Rayos, Cara Barredo, Meynard Peñalosa, and Elver Esquivel and will run until March 10 at Onstage Theatre, Greenbelt.
