Vanessa Bryant has taken to her Instagram account to announce "A Celebration of Life", a memorial service that will be held for her husband, the late NBA player Kobe Bryant, and their 13-year-old daughter, Gianna "Gigi" Bryant. The memorial service will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
"#2, #24, #20 years as a Laker and the [number] of years Kobe and I were together," said Vanessa in her post.
Gianna wore a #2 jersey while Kobe wore a #24 one. 20 also stands for the number of years Kobe played for the L.A. Lakers. The numbers also mirror the event of the memorial service: February 24, 2020, or 2.24.20.
"While this is going to be a very emotional day for the Bryant family, the Los Angeles Lakers, the city of Los Angeles, as well as for the men and women who work at Staples Center, we are very confident we will be ready for 6 p.m. doors opening for the Clippers-Memphis game following the ceremony," said Lee Zeidman, the president of Staples Center.
Kobe, Gigi, and nine other passengers lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash on January 26. Kobe was 41 years old.
