Drew Arellano did it—he finally got the snip.
The TV host announced that he had a vasectomy on his Instagram account. He uploaded a photo of himself lying and wearing whatever's needed during the medical procedure. Drew captioned his post by saying it's also his gift to his wife, Iya Villania-Arellano.
"Happy late and advanced Mother's Day to my wife. #HappyVA-SEC-TO-MEEE. #snipsnip #SarapYungSedativeAh," he wrote on IG.
Drew's vasectomy came nearly two months after Iya gave birth to their fifth (and it's looking like their last) child, Anya Love, back in February 2025. Many have been interested in Drew and Iya's family, which has grown from a family of three to now seven ;) They're truly experts in the baby-making department, LOL.
Fellow celebrities and online citizens applauded Drew for choosing a vasectomy not for himself, but for his beautiful family.
The Internet reacts to Drew Arellano's vasectomy
Since they first introduced their kids to the public, the Internet has closely followed Iya and Drew's family life. Now that Drew has taken the road less traveled—one not often talked about by most men—many see his decision as a source of inspiration.
"Sana ma-normalize 'yung ganito sa Pinas. Sa babae na ang hirap ng pagbubuntis at panganganak kaya sana sa lalaki naman ang family planning," one commenter said.
Another praised Drew, saying, "Eto ang tunay na lalaki. This will keep your wife healthy in all aspects you don't even know."
Others chimed in with playful comments like, "Gagarahe na si Drew!"—teasing that he's officially done growing his family with Iya through a play on words on his show, Biyahe ni Drew. One comment also read, "Okay na kahit tumagal pa byahe ni Drew," LOL!

What is a vasectomy?
A vasectomy, in the simplest sense, is the procedure where the tube that carries sperm, the vas deferens, is blocked and severed. Planned Parenthood explains that there are two ways to perform a vasectomy: the incision method and the no-scalpel (or no-cut) method. The no-scalpel method is often preferred by health professionals because it has a lower risk of infection and fewer complications.
Does the procedure affect your sex drive or your ability to have an orgasm? Experts assure that it doesn't. A vasectomy simply removes the possibility of causing a pregnancy, without changing anything about your sexual function.
Where can you get a vasectomy in the Philippines?
Of course, there are several hospitals currently offering vasectomies (like St. Luke's Medical Center), but here's a recent PSA: You can get a free (!) vasectomy in the Philippines. The Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) offers free no-scalpel vasectomies.
The Commission offers several reproductive health services. They also have access to birth control pills, intrauterine devices (IUDs), and contraceptive implants—and (!) bilateral tubal ligations for women. All of these procedures are available to Filipino families, offering various options to explore the best family planning solutions.
For more information, visit the Commission on Population and Development's official page and send them a message. If you're from the National Capital Region (NCR), you may directly contact POPCOM NCR.
