Gigi Hadid took some time out of her New York Fashion Week schedule to tweet at those who say she looks "too skinny" on the runway this year.
Hadid revealed that her apparent weight loss is a result of receiving treatment for Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyroid. She explained that her symptoms, which are typical of the disease, included "extreme fatigue, metabolism issues... inflammation & water retention."
In her tweets Hadid mentioned that when she first started out as a model, people attacked her for being "too big for the industry" and she chalked her previous size up to having untreated Hashimoto's. She clarified that she hasn't been dieting and isn't comfortable with how skinny she is now, but pushed a message asking people to be kinder on social media.
