Though wide-legged pants are coming back in style, there's no denying the magic of a great pair of skinny jeans. They make everyone look good. And if you don't believe us, just remember that there was a point in time when every single member of One Direction exclusively wore skinny jeans, and they had girls going ape shit for five years.
That's why it pains us to report that your favorite pair of skinnies might be damaging your back. If you have chronic back pain, try ditching your skinny jeans for a while and see if anything changes.
A study conducted by the British Chiropractic Association found that skinny jeans are one of five fashion items that hurt your body. Chiropractor Tim Hutchful explained, "[Skinny jeans] restrict free movement in areas such as the hips and knees, affecting the way we hold our bodies," which changes the posture.
But you don't have to give them up completely. Hutchful recommends switching up your wardrobe; try not wearing your tight jeans everyday so your back can rest.
