When it comes to a bedtime routine, one can get pretty attached, especially when it comes to your choice of attire underneath the sheets. Some people need their pajamas, others are happy with undies and an old t-shirt and some people go completely naked. Whatever your choice is, chances are you’ll never jump ship…unless you really have to.

Well, according to gynecologist and author of V for Vagina, Dr. Alyssa Dweck, all of you night-time panty wearers might want to consider ditching your knickers altogether. 

In a recent interview with Shape, Dr. Dweck discussed why going commando in bed is a good idea, especially for girls who frequently get infections down below.


"If [the area] is constantly covered—especially by a fabric that's not moisture-wicking or absorbent—moisture collects," she explained. "That's a perfect breeding ground for bacteria or yeast."

For those who just genuinely don’t feel comfortable going full-on nude during bed time, she suggests either borrowing a pair of loose fitting boxers from your boyfie or just investing in your baggier bed-time styles. 

“If there’s ever a time to break out the granny panties, this would be the time,” says Dweck.
