We're getting obsessed with a new (!) dating show. And for someone who's not much into dating shows, Better Late Than Single appears to be a very interesting one.

So, it's not the usual type of dating show where the contestants are kind of experts or used to the dating scene. You won't see upfront flirting, at least in the first episodes, just yet. Why? Well, it's because the contestants have been single since birth! Often called "motae-solos" in Korean or "eternal singles", the participants will be navigating through their (almost non-existent) dating lives through the show.

Unlike your usual dating shows where we all sit around waiting for the drama to unfold, Better Late Than Single kinda flips the script. Instead of just watching the motae-solos stumble their way through love, they actually get coached on how to date — yes, flirting lessons included.

Enter the "Cupid Experts": Seo In Guk, Kang Hanna, Lee Eun Ji, and Car, who drop in with some tips, encouragement, and just the right amount of chaos along the way. And based on the first three episodes? It's already sweet, awkward, and delightfully unhinged—in the best way possible 😂💘

What are the basic rules of Netflix's 'Better Late Than Single'?

Better Late Than Single follows nine motae-solos as they step into the world of romance, but not without a little prep. Before filming even started, these singles went through weeks of counseling and glow-up training with the show's Cupid crew. We're talking beauty, fitness, hobbies, confidence—everything about dating 101.

Then came the official nine days that the nine contestants (out of 4,000 applicants!) will spend together at a resort in Jeju Island. Yes, it's where they have to put their learnings from the Cupids into action. Of course, their fellow participants do not know anything about them including their age, profession, and more.

Who are the cast of Netflix's 'Better Late Than Single'?

The dating show runs for 10 episodes, and as we've mentioned earlier, the participants start off knowing nothing about each other. It's all on them to make the first move, spark conversations, and build real connections 👀

But we're not letting you go in blind. Below, we're introducing the cast—the motae-solos starring in the first season of Better Late Than Single.

Noh Jae Yun

Noh Jae Yun might be a crowd favorite early in the game. He's a 27-year-old VFX and 3D designer for TV, film, and (!) video games. As the participants started to introduce themselves, Jae Yun came out as an anime fan who is a bit hard to get along with. Although it's important to note that he's one of the handsome yet timid motae-solos in the show.

Because of his timid nature, he always had a hard time talking to women. And so, it was his top priority during his makeover. He learns to acquire more confidence in his speaking voice with a speech coach. With this, he looks forward to starting a relationship with much confidence in himself.

Kang Ji Su

If Jae Yun is uncomfortable talking to women, then Kang Ji Su feels the same but with men. As someone who grew up studying in all-female schools throughout her teenage years, Ji Su never had a crush.

Add to that the fact that she's a certified homebody. She can even stay at her apartment for a month (!) without the urge to go out. Now you ask why she's part of Better Late Than Single? "I'm ready to go out and flirt," she declared in the show. You go, girl!!

Kim Yeo Myung

Kim Yeo Myung appears to be a little bit different among other participants. She's a fun and outgoing person. However, she's been committed to her friends for the most part of her life—without any interest with romantic relationships.

Now in her prime years, 26 years old, most of her besties are in a relationship already, navigating life with their respective S.Os, except Yeo Myung. Wanting to hang out with someone other than her friends, she decides to join Better Late Than Single. Unlike other motae-solos, she focuses on improving her physique, going for that ultimate glow up.

Kim Seung Li

He's fit and he knows how to play soccer really well—Kim Seung Li knows how to live a fit and active lifestyle. What he doesn't know is how to interact with women now. "Brazilians are open-minded. In high school, girls would come up to me and jokingly say, 'Do you want to kiss me?' all the time. All kinds of girls. So I drew a line," he tells, noting how conservative he is despite growing up in Brazil.

He also talked about how shy he is when in front of other people. This is something he revealed to the other shy people in the room, namely Jae Yun and Ji Su, LOL.

Lee Min Hong

Lee Min Hong's mom signed her up for over 20 blind dates over the past seven months—and yes, she went to all of them. Unfortunately, nothing worked out from that series of blind dates just yet. Admittedly, Min Hong feels she can be too blunt and a little bit picky when it comes to the man she would want to date IRL. In a sense, she seems a bit stubborn when it comes to relationships. But with Better Late Than Single, Min Hong hopes to change for the better and will try to be more open when meeting new people.

Kim Sang Ho

Kim Sang Ho has been single since forever. The places he's been to probably affected his dating life because 1) he's from an all-boys high school, 2) he took up engineering, and 3) served his mandatory military service at a young age as well. And although he's not a homebody, he mostly goes out with his friends, who are mostly... guys.

So now, Sang Ho's on a mission to finally get that glow-up he's been meaning to have. He's going for a cleaner style, a more refined look that turns heads. It's all about him now—stepping into his prime era, and kicking off what he hopes will be the beginning of his in-a-relationship era.

Ha Jeong Mok

Ha Jeong Mok is currently focused on discovering his own style. Since he grew up as one half of a set of twins who did everything together, he's eager to create a fresh, upgraded version of himself.

Working with Seo In Guk's styling team gave Jeong Mok a big confidence boost, especially when it comes to dating. After all, he's more than ready to leave the single life behind.

Yi Do

Yi Do got the beauty, the brains, and everything else an It Girl has—except for a boyfriend. She's at the top of her game when it comes to her career and academics. Yi Do's studying at Seoul National University, which can be referred to as South Korea's version of Harvard.

What else can Yi Do work on? Apparently, it's her communication skills. She's aiming to speak more casually and take her time in conversations, now that she's also focusing on landing a boyfriend aside from chasing another career milestone.

Kang Hyun Kyu

Here's another person who's so into his work that he forgets to socialize and obviously, get a girlfriend. Kang Hyun Kyu is a working medical student. While he's studying to be a doctor, he's also working as a mixologist. He's spent most of his life buried in his studies. So maybe Better Late Than Single is finally the moment for him to find a girlfriend… though we're all hoping he can survive actually liking someone.

Park Ji Yeon

Park Ji Yeon has long steered clear of dating for many reasons. One of the main ones is her childhood absence of a father figure, which has left her with understandable doubts about what a healthy relationship with a man should look like.

One more thing that has affected her dating life at some point was the fact that she attended all-girls schools during most of her education. But now at 26, everything has changed. She's determined to end the first season of Better Late Than Single with a man.

"I want to show people how I can overcome the biases and stereotypes I feel toward men and move forward with my life. I'm arriving single, but when I leave here, I won't be," Ji Yeon said.
