Published on Jan 12, 2026
Big news for Pinoy students ready to level up: Fulbright Philippines is now accepting applications for its 2027–2028 scholarship programs! The Fulbright Foreign Student Program (FFSP) is perfect for those looking to pursue a master's, doctoral degree, or non-degree doctoral research in the U.S. More than just a scholarship, it's an experience that will boost your career, expand your global perspective, and give you a killer story to flex at family gatherings.
What Filipino Students Need To Know About The Fulbright Foreign Student Program
What's the Fulbright Foreign Student Program?
The FFSP is a prestigious scholarship designed to promote educational and cultural exchange between the Philippines and the U.S. Depending on your program, grants cover one to two years of study and cover all the essentials you need to focus on your studies without stressing about the logistics. These include round-trip international travel, monthly maintenance allowance, tuition and fees, book and supplies allowance, and health and accident insurance.
Fields of study range widely: you can dive into American culture and society, tackle global issues like human rights and public health, or venture into other open disciplines (with a few exceptions such as medicine, nursing, and accountancy).
Who can apply to the Fulbright Foreign Student Program?
To be eligible, applicants must be Philippine citizens with proficiency in English, have a college degree in their field of specialization with excellent academic records, and have at least two years of professional work experience after college (assistantships don't count). Non-degree doctoral applicants must also prove that the materials they need for research aren't available in the Philippines but are accessible in the U.S.
Applicants must also be in good health to pursue graduate studies and are required to return to the Philippines after completing the program. Dual citizens, permanent residents, and current U.S. students are not eligible (so full-on Pinoy scholars only!).
How can you apply to the Fulbright Foreign Student Program?
Applications are open online until April 30, 2026 via the Fulbright application portal. You'll need your official transcripts and diploma, three letters of reference, and a recent NBI clearance.
If you're feeling a little overwhelmed (don't worry, we've all been there), Fulbright Philippines is hosting information sessions from January to April 2026, both online and in person. You can scan the QR code provided by their page to register and get all the details.
No more waiting for "someday!" Chase this opportunity, and make your Fulbright story the one everyone can't stop talking about. Good luck!
