According to writer and entrepreneur James Altucher, if you're serious about getting rich, you have to stop relying on your monthly income [via Quora]. James writes, "You have to get rid of your salary. In a salary, by definition, you are creating wealth for others and you are creating a chain and handcuffs for yourself."
In other words, don't be a regular employee. You have to get up, quit your job, and pursue something you're really passionate about.
Of course, this is easier said than done.
To put things into perspective, James sought out another writer named Steve Scott, who kept beating his book sales on Amazon. He invited Steve to appear on his podcast “The James Altucher Show” to ask him about his success story.
Steve, who was broke for two years, shared that he got his big break by writing books. He wrote 42 books in two years, and now makes more money than 95% of the CEOs in the corporate world.
So what’s his secret?
"Take a concept you're interested in and break it up into a lot of parts and write a book about each part. For instance, if you are interested in golf, write a book about how to get the right equipment, write a book about how to improve your swing in 10 easy steps, write a book, ‘Learn to Putt 100% Better in 60 Minutes,’ and so on.”
It’s that simple. All you have to do is think outside the box. It doesn’t even have to be writing. Start a small business or utilize what you’re good at by offering your services. Go find your passion, do something about it, and work hard.
