The Best Cafés Near Your University Campus For Study Dates

Cafés Near Diliman And Katipunan For Study Dates

Home to some of the country's most intense academic girlies, Katipunan and Diliman are where long readings, org meetings, and spontaneous coffee breaks mix together. With Ateneo de Manila University, UP Diliman, and Miriam College nearby, the coffee shops in this strip are where study dates stretch into deep talks, and coffee refills turn into extended cáfe stays. If your love language is studying (with chikahan and maybe a little bit of flirting 👀), this is your neighborhood.

Street Kohi

Location: 24 Mayaman corner Manigo Street, Quezon City

Colorful and homey café Street Kohi became popular among café enthusiasts with its Studio Ghibli-inspired aesthetics and decor, like Totoro plushies and a Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle figurine. They have both comfy chairs and desks for studying and couches you can sink into if you just want to lounge, plus an al fresco area, too, if you want to relax outdoors.

For a cozy drink, go for their new Banana Latte or the romantic Rose Latte with strawberry and edible flowers. Street Kohi also regularly hosts events like Open Mic sessions, art workshops, and film screenings, so you and your date can come outside of study sessions.

Cara Café

Location: Studio A, Xavierville Avenue, Quezon City

With light-wood fixtures and calming aesthetics, Cara Café lets you chill even with deadlines looming—they have Wi-Fi and sockets, too, so you can be as productive as you want. Plus, all their drinks use carabao milk, which makes for an interesting conversation starter if you and your date are at that small-talk phase. Aside from being a fun fact, using carabao's milk also makes Cara Café's signature drinks, Cara's Pastillas de Leche and Cara's Kesong Puti, extra rich.

Art Circle Café

Location: Ang Bahay ng Alumni, Balagtas Street, Diliman, Quezon City

Though Art Circle Café is cozy enough for study sessions, you'll definitely want to come back for a date date (😉) at this artsy café. For one, you'll be surrounded by carefully curated art pieces by local artists, which will score you some cool points with your date. They serve great coffee, delectable pastries, and hearty comfort food, too. Don't leave without splitting a gooey Lava Cake topped generously with ice cream and finished off with a cherry.

Cafés Near Taft For Study Dates

Taft Avenue is fast-paced and slightly chaotic in the best way, so it only makes sense that the strip is dotted with cafés in every nook and cranny. With De La Salle University, St. Scholastica's College, and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde all within walking distance, study dates at coffee shops here are efficient but still cute—you review notes, order another drink, then somehow end up talking about life until late into the night. It's for couples (or almost-couples) who thrive under pressure and low sleep.

U Me Kape

Location: G/F Manor Building, Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila City

On your next coffee-slash-study date, take yourself to Vietnam—or the next best thing, U Me Kape along Taft Avenue. Take your pick from tables and desks for an intense focused study session or the floor cushions for more relaxed lounging.

Their current best-selling, viral drink is the Vietnamese Latte Tiramisu, which is iced Vietnamese coffee topped with a slab of tiramisu—and they have a matcha version, too. If you want something more straightforward, you can always get their signature Egg Coffee, which is Vietnamese coffee that uses whipped egg as a creamer for a richer, eggnog-like flavor. Plus, U Me Kape is open 24 hours, too, so you can definitely pull that all-nighter.

Dapit-hapon

Location: 2/F University Mall, Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila City

Cream interiors, a pegboard full of photos left behind by other students, comfy couches, and flower-shaped hanging lighting: Dapit-hapon is decorated as your Pinterest board came to life.

You can spend a working lunch date here, thanks to their hearty rice bowls like  Kare-Kare, Kaldereta, and Beef Kebab, then treat yourself to a decadent Campfire Latte for a job well done. Dapit-hapon also regularly hosts art markets, so be sure to bring your date over even outside of your study sesh. Plus, Dapit-hapon sells dried flowers so you can make parinig to your beau to buy you some—or buy them yourself 'cause you're a strong, independent girlie.

Asterisko

Location: G/F EGI Taft Tower, Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila City

If you and your date are serious about coffee, then Asterisko is the spot for you. They've got specialty coffee on the menu, so if you like trying different beans, be sure to ask for a pourover from the barista—or you can just get any of their signature Americanos, like the Coco Americano with coconut water and espresso or Orange Americano with orange puree. If you like your coffee less…coffee-tasting and on the sweeter side, go for their signature lattes like the Cinnamon Bun Latte or Cheesecake Latte.

Asterisko Café has lots of cozy nooks and couches for study dates or study group sessions, and they regularly host DJ nights, too, so be sure to be back and let loose after studying hard.

Halfway by Heyday

Location: 3/F Fusebox Lifestyle Complex, Asturias Street, Sampaloc, Manila City

Halfway by Heyday is a hidden café full of cool vibes. The lighting is moody, the couches are sleek-looking yet comfy, and you can find a wide variety of knickknacks and art pieces decorating the place.

Their signature drinks are just as fun and creative, like the Sunrise Dupe with espresso and oolong tea, and the Fall Oat Boy latte. For those craving something hearty, go for Lemon Garlic Pasta, or split an order of Cajun Potato Wedges with your date.

OSS Café

Location: 1968, G. Tuanzon Street, Sampaloc, Manila City

Vibrant and filled with midcentury-inspired decor and modern art pieces, OSS Café looks like your dream apartment living room—the one where all the cool kids hang out. With so many fun knick-knacks littering the space, you're in danger of being distracted from your studying, but you and your date are sure to have lots to talk about.
